Arjun Kapoor on being back as a lover boy

Talking about the responses of him back as a lover boy, Arjun Kapoor said, “Because I think samay hogaya hai. I think Ki & Ka, 2 States, it’s been a while uske baad Mubarakaan aaye thi. So it’s been a little bit of time. And, I think I am just glad that people have liked me in those roles, so maybe they were missing me. And Mudassar sir ke saath kaam karke mujhe yeh genre main firse aane ka mauka mila hai. So I’m glad if people say ‘I am back’. I am very happy to be back. Pichle films main action aur negative film main wapis aaya tha aur Gunday, Ishqzaade ke baad if people feel I have come back from Ki & Ka and 2 States wala space then I am very very happy about it.”

Arjun Kapoor admits to being a critical person

When asked if he was a critical person after his successful performance, Arjun said, “Of course. If you are telling me I am critical as a person despite the appreciation, so I am critical when I do a shot also. I’m a very self-critical person. Main bahut zyada critical hoon, which is also not a good thing. I am too realistic and sometimes main bahut pessimistic hojaata hoon us chakar main.”

He added, “Toh main kya karta hoon, I trust people who are making the film and the people I am working with. Let them figure out, I always try and learn but it’s very difficult to change your personality at this age when you are used to being critical. Toh main thoda detach hone ki koshish karta hoon, I don’t try and indulge, overthink that part now. Any criticism that comes my way I try and learn from them. But I have also learnt now that har baar aap overanalyse karke you might destroy the happiness of working as an actor. So thoda boundaries banale chalna chahiye.”

Arjun Kapoor on criticism

Taking of if criticism ever took over him, Kapoor said, “I am sure. I mean I am sure we all have our moments. I always say this when audience pay money to watch my work, unka reaction saraakho pe. Because that is what you are working for. But agar aapka koi personal agenda ya vendetta hai mere against, meri shakal, mera surname pasand nahi, apko meri identity se problem hai toh aur aap thoda personal hojaaye ho, below the belt hojaaye ho so that’s something that I don’t appreciate it. I don’t know if it has got into me, but I don’t appreciate it that kind of criticism. I feel that’s not helpful, that’s hindering and hampering.”

The actor concluded, “Main bhi ek actor hoon, main ek actor bana hoon jab logo ne mujhe pyaar diya hai. Meri peheli film chali, maine kisiko thopa nahi tha Ki aake dekho meri film. Main bhi grow karne ki koshish kar raha hoon. Aap mujhe baitayenge kya better kar sakta hoon, kya nahi pasand aaya I will try to learn from it. Kabhi filmon ki bhi galti hoti hai ki film nahi chalti, kabhi aapka kaam itna acha nahi hota. But when you become personal and aap jaan bhujke poke karte hai, I try to not get affected but I don’t like that part. That’s obvious for any human being, because you realise that it’s personal.”
